In what was an overall great Royal Rumble show for 2025, the question now becomes, where to from here. Between Jey Uso winning the Rumble which virtually no one saw coming, to the direction for CM Punk, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins just to name a few. John Cena, where does he fit in now, we know he’ll be involved in the chamber. After Cody Rhodes triumphed in his ladder match with Kevin Owens, even his path is now a bit muddied with the fact that there will most likely be no Rock this year. Charlotte winning the women’s rumble makes things clearer on that side of things but then it does beg the question, where was Becky? Are we going to see Iyo and Rhea for the title? So even there, plenty of moving pieces going into Wrestlemania 41.
Jey going after Gunther
I think by now it is pretty obvious that it will be Gunther vs Jey for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. And there is no doubt in my mind Jey will be going over and getting his long awaited in the eyes of a lot of fans, world title run. Yes, we’ve seen this match on three separate occasions already, is it fresh? No, not really. But that isn’t the point, the point is rewarding Jey for how unbelievably over he is.
Jey winning the rumble also showed WWE finally taking a risk and not playing it safe like they have been for the past few months. I can appreciate that, and can also appreciate this rumble being unpredictable already, becoming even more unpredictable with Jey winning, because no one saw it coming. Punk, Roman, Cena and Rollins were all favourites but did they have to win the rumble? Realistically no.
Punk, Roman and Rollins plans
Plus, Punk, Roman and Rollins now all have an intertwined story with each other that might very well lead them into Wrestlemania together. Now the going rumour is all three in a triple threat match. I think it would be better to have Rollins vs Punk and Roman vs McIntyre, because that would probably make more sense, and there is no real need to go to Punk and Reigns yet. Remember, there is still an unnamed favour yet to be determined from Paul Heyman. That can be played out possibly after Mania.
Meanwhile, Drew finally goes after Roman after telling us he’ll be going after the Bloodline. Give him the win back over Roman at Mania. Then it enables you to send Drew into a world title program with Jey possibly going into Summerslam after winning King of the Ring.
Where is Cena going?
Then Cena, well he’ll be in the Chamber match, if he wins, it’ll most likely be Cena vs Cody, which if that does play out, how are the crowds going to react? That is a big question. But if he doesn’t, the direction seems slightly unclear. Then in regards to Cody, if I had the pen, I’d be doing Cody and Randy at Wrestlemania, which at this point, looks unlikely being that Randy will most likely have a match with Kevin Owens. Owens, who after RAW, will probably be going against Sami Zayn in which Orton could interfere setting up Orton vs Owens at Mania.
The Women’s side
Based upon what happened in the women’s rumble, the path is clear in regards to Charlotte. It will most likely be Tiffany Stratton at Wrestlemania. Sadly it wouldn’t surprise me if they switched the title there and gave it to Charlotte which should not be happening. It was bad enough they gave her the rumble which could have easily gone to Iyo and have Charlotte win the chamber. Regardless, it leaves Rhea’s opponent up in the air. Iyo did lose her chamber qualifying match, but she may very well still get in, especially after how she lost that match, by a DQ. I’m still thinking we see Iyo and Rhea in a match at Mania as that seems to be the direction but we will have to wait and see if they do indeed put her in the chamber match. I think they probably will but you never quite know.
All in all coming out of the rumble it all seems very interesting, we have plenty of branching stories that can be told and hopefully it’ll be a fun ride as we go into Wrestlemania 41.
